VPK Group has approved near and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets with the SBTi.

Our ambition to reduce CO2 emissions not only goes far; we have also made concrete commitments. We are proud that our near- and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets have now been officially approved with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This marks an important step that reinforces our dedication to playing an active role in the fight against climate change.

SBTi

A significant milestone in our sustainability journey

With the global challenges ahead of us - such as halving emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 - it is essential that we take action now. At VPK Group, we understand the urgency of this and have taken concrete steps to reduce our impact.

Our approved targets

Our targets have been carefully drafted to meet the stringent requirements of the SBTi:

  • Overall Net-Zero target: VPK Group commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050.
  • Near-term target: VPK Group commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, compared to 2020. Additionally, we commit to reducing scope 3 emissions, from purchased goods and services and upstream transport and distribution, by 52% per ton of goods sold within the same timeframe.
  • Long-term target: By 2050, VPK Group commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% compared to 2020. We also commit to reduce scope 3 emissions by 97% per ton of goods sold.
Business Ambition for 1.5C These ambitious targets reflect our commitment to reducing emissions across all fronts and contribute to the global effort to limit global warming to 1.5°C, as outlined in the Paris Agreement.
